Which oral surgery treatments do we offer?

Oral surgery covers treatments carried out on the gum or bone: from removing a tooth that can’t be saved to wisdom teeth that haven’t come through properly, or placing implants.

Before any procedure we carry out an assessment with the necessary tests and explain what we’ll do, what recovery will be like and the cost. Everything is done under local anaesthetic so you’re comfortable.

When might you need it?

• You have a wisdom tooth that hurts, swells or has no room to come through
• A tooth is too damaged to be saved
• Your mouth needs preparing for an implant or a denture
• You have an infection or a cyst that needs treating

Frequently asked questions

Does wisdom tooth removal hurt?

It’s done under local anaesthetic, so you shouldn’t feel pain during the procedure. In the following days some discomfort or swelling is normal, and it’s managed with the medication we recommend.

How long does recovery take?

It depends on the procedure. For a simple extraction a few days is usually enough; in more complex cases, such as an impacted wisdom tooth, it may take a little longer. We’ll explain this before we start.

Do wisdom teeth always need to come out?

No. We only recommend it when they cause or are likely to cause problems: pain, infections, lack of space or risk to the neighbouring teeth. We assess each case.
